You Say Tomato, I Say Tomahto

How is it that I have only just seen my first Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers movie? How old am I?! I went with JS to the Regent Square Theatre to see "Shall We Dance" and it. was. amazing. OMG. You must see it right now. It was so funny and I actually was already familiar with a couple of the songs. Who knew! Of course, now that I have seen the movie, it is imperative that I go roller skating.

This weekend was a good one, overall. We had Easter dinner with CLRG's family on Saturday because his mom and sister both had to work on Sunday and that went well. We hung out with the duckling during much of the afternoon. She is so darn smart, it isn't even funny. She got out this deck of cards that she has and I made up a game for us. Each card had a number and a picture of a Disney character (Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Donald). I showed her a card and had her put it in the pile with the matching picture and she did such a good job. Also, and possibly even more exciting, SHE SAID MY NAME!!!!!! I was so happy. She has been saying CLRG's name for a while now and I was getting envious. Haha.

Last night, we watched Goon and, as far as hockey movies go, it was pretty great. A lot of blood, of course, but what else would you expect? I really like Seann William Scott's stuff lately, and I especially liked him in this movie. You should see the movie he did with John C. Reilly about grocery stores. Annnnnd... Watch Goon. As long as you don't mind copious amounts of swearing and large amounts of blood. Haha. Oh! A bonus: Liev Schrieber is in it. Yup.

Hey Mambo

This evening, CLRG (I should probably call him something else someday...) and I watched a great old movie. It was "The Catered Affair" and starred awesome people like Bette Davis, Ernest Borgnine and Debbie Reynolds. It was from 1956, I believe, and you should watch it.

Earlier today, we went adventuring with his parents. We went to a delicious Italian restaurant for lunch, visited a local chocolate/candy factory, and checked out an Italian grocery store as well as the thrift store near our house. It was a really great afternoon.

Today, I bought a bonnet that I intend for the cats. Yes, I know how that makes me sound. Think about it, though. Cats. In. Bonnets. HILARIOUS. Right? You agree. I may have to cut holes for ears, but whatever. I can do it. I also bought a satin jacket. For me, not the cats. A and I shall wear them together on a satin jacket outing. It will be GLORIOUS.

I want to go on a trip. The Wedding Date is on TV right now. It makes me want to fly somewhere. Someday, someday.

I need to go shopping for work clothes soon. I'm excited.

He's Not a Backstreet Boy Clone, He's a Sailor

Well, there isn't really any new snow here. Everyone else has snow everywhere and snow days and the like, but life is totally normal in the steel city. Well, maybe not normal but you know. The Super Bowl is very soon, as you know, so things are crazy.

The Princess Diaries is on tv right now. I am glad, because I was hoping to watch a movie or something but I can't figure out how to work any dvd player in our house. Ridiculous. CLRG is telling me how to work the one in the living room. Apparently, I have to use the PS3 remote or something. Why does everything have to be connected to everything? Grrrr.

Aunt Jane's Letters

Oh my word. Lately, things have been very whirlwindy. Is that a word? Anyway, here has what's been up:

-met Pookie and Al's pup
-went to LT's wedding
-hung with some family

This past weekend, I:
-flew to Michigan
-went to Bananne's bachelorette party
-went to homecoming at Albion
-hung out with some of my favorite people

I came home this weekend with a cold. I think I caught it from Pookie when I saw her. Oh well. It seems to be going away now. I am not going anywhere this weekend, which is nice. I have to work all weekend, but these are the dues I must pay for requesting multiple weekends off in a row. Oh well.

Oldface and Wifers loaned me two dvds when I left. One, a BBC version of Sense & Sensibility, I watched the other day. AMAZING. It was so great. The other, a Masterpiece Theatre presentation of Jane Eyre, I have not yet watched, but I am looking forward to it.

Life Goes On

Did I tell you that I sliced my finger at work? Yes... I was slicing tomatoes, and also sliced my pinky and paid yet another visit to the Emergency Room and received, again, three stitches. It was soooo much fun. I got the stitches out yesterday, which was nice.

I haven't written in a while, which I am very sorry about. I just haven't really been motivated to do so.

I had a monumental birthday last week. 25! I can't believe it. I don't really feel that much older, and I was dealing with this milestone pretty well, until A mentioned that we would next reach 26. Okayyyy... I do not need to think about that. Because THEN, I start thinking about how much closer to 30 I am and how scary that sounds to say. Oh boy. Anyway, the birthday was super fun. The day before was R's birthday and we went out for drinks. We were joined by her sister, her sister's friend, K, and CLRG. On my actual birthday, I did not have to work, so I met CLRG for lunch and then came home to do laundry and hang out with los gatos. On Friday, I had some people from school and that I know through CLRG over for drinks, and we just hung out. On Saturday, K and I went to East Liberty to attend Gene Kelly's birthday party at the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater. It was so much fun! We had free cake and punch, got a tour (not really, though, in my opinion), and attended a $2 showing of "Cover Girl"!!

Anywayyyy... things are good. The room is not yet done, so CLRG and I are still sharing a closet, but it's all good.

All Good Things

I bought these measuring cups today. Aren't they adorable? I went out with K. We saw Letters to Juliet and then went to Anthropologie (dangerous place, I tell you!) to browse and I came out with the cups. So, today my interest in a) going to Italy, b) decorating a house and c) cooking has been peaked. I was actually just talking with CLRG about my interest in going to Italy, so I was already thinking about it. Hopefully, we will have money to go before we are too old. My visit to Anthropologie led me to think about beautiful aprons and cookware and cups and saucers and cookbooks and plates. I know I do not need and cannot afford any of these things at present, but it's nice to be able to imagine them. Haha.

Can You Feel This Magic in the Air?

Tonight, I went to see "Valentine's Day" with Elle. It was our first roommate date in a long time, and it was a lot of fun. The movie was ridiculous, sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a "really?!" way. Know what I mean? Yeah.

These Are the Days of Endless Dreaming

The Steelers are going to the Super Bowl! I watched the AFC Championship game with Elle and CLRG and one of his friends last night and it was very exciting. Especially Polamalu's touchdown in the 4th or whatever. I do not yet have the rabid devotion to the Black and Gold that everyone in this city does. I was trying to make myself feel more invested in the game last night by reminding myself that it equated with the ALCS and such. Next: the equivalent of the World Series. It makes more sense to me when I put it in terms of baseball and think about the Tigers. Yep, yep. Elle and I played some Guitar Hero as well last night and that was interesting. We were both playing on medium a couple of times and not doing totally awesome, but okay. I think we'll improve with time. Haha.

Last night, Chuck IMed me for the first time since November. I replied, but heard nothing. Same thing happened this morning and I was getting kind of annoyed. I think I am open for casual IM conversations, but to IM me and then not do anything seemed kind of ridiculous. We're talking right now and it's going okay.

I watched Iron Man this weekend after a dinner at Aladdin's with CLRG. I would say that we watched the movie, but he totally fell asleep. Haha. I really liked it. It seemed to me to be the most realistic superhero movie I've seen. You know? It didn't really strike me as strange or fantastic that Tony Stark would be doing the things he was doing. Everything made sense. It was a quality movie. Maybe someday I will watch it again and CLRG can watch it, too, and stay awake. :oP

I just realized today that Valentine's Day is coming up pretty quickly. I mean, sort of. What do I do for that? Christmas was tricky enough. I had a thought today that involved me making dinner for CLRG and us going to see a movie. I was hoping that there might be an old movie playing at a local theatre and we could go to that. Or we could just watch an old movie here at my house. Or at his. I don't know. We went to a theatre in Regent Square to see a movie from the 70s with his parents a month or so ago and that was nice. Maybe they do that frequently. I will have to research.
