That's The Way I Like It

Have we discussed nail polish recently?

I really, really like to paint my nails. After not being able to wear polish for 2+ years because of the whole working-in-food-service thing, I am certainly making up for it. I usually change color once a week. I'm wearing a lovely coral polish right now (Sally Hansen brand) that A was wearing the last time I saw her and she was kind enough to tell me what it was. I'm a fan. I need to change my polish in the next day or two because this stuff has been on for like two weeks and it is looking pretty bad. Ugh. In case you care, another brand of nail polish I enjoy is Wet N Wild because, hello, it's like a dollar. Anyway, I think that my drawer in the bathroom is getting a little bit full of polish. I need to not buy more for a while, I think. Oh dear.

Okay, the following is not related to nail polish (aren't you glad?):

Do you know what a dump cake is? I had never heard the term until Wifers told me she was making a peach one earlier this week. She sent me the recipe, which is from Bakerella.com. I fully intend to make this cake this weekend. I was also thinking of making vanilla cupcakes, from my Joy the Baker cookbook, but that was only because we were going to have a birthday/father's day/woohoo June cookout with CLRG's family this weekend and I was in charge of desserts. Maybe I will still make them. Maybe. Or probably I will make more strawberry shortcake because I really can't live without it.

I Know It Sounds Absurd

Let me tell you about something that I love. Something that is becoming kind of a problem. An obsession, if you will. That something is: stationery. Paper products. I have a serious problem. I buy cute notecards and stationery SO FREQUENTLY. In fact, I bought some yesterday when I was at Target with K after our traditional Red Robin dinner and I felt a touch of guilt when I got home. I didn't last too long after seeing CLRG before I blurted out, "I bought some stationery. I know, I know!" Thankfully, because he is the best ever, he just smiled and said it was okay. He must be thanking his lucky stars I'm out buying paper products instead of Coach purses or something. Hahaha. I have been really enjoying Mara-Mi stationery lately. I bought some cute lemon notecards at Target not long ago and I liked them so much, I bought some for Pookie for her birthday, too.

Are You Okay, Annie?

Today, I went to the wine & spirits store to get some wine for our Valentine's Day dinner. The first thing the cashier man said to me when I came up to the register was, "Do you know who Mary Pickford is?" I was surprised, given that I just finished reading a biography of Olive Thomas, who was Mary's sister-in-law. I said yes, and told him about that. He then told me that he thinks I look like her. I was surprised, and pleased. I have never been told I look like anyone famous. It was pretty excellent. I am also glad that he said it, because it kind of validates the feeling I've had that my hair looks like it belongs in the early 20th century. Woo! Win! Haha.

Come On, Leave Me Breathless

Hellowwwwww...

Today, I bought a bonnet that I intend for the cats. Yes, I know how that makes me sound. Think about it, though. Cats. In. Bonnets. HILARIOUS. Right? You agree. I may have to cut holes for ears, but whatever. I can do it. I also bought a satin jacket. For me, not the cats. A and I shall wear them together on a satin jacket outing. It will be GLORIOUS.

I want to go on a trip. The Wedding Date is on TV right now. It makes me want to fly somewhere. Someday, someday.

I need to go shopping for work clothes soon. I'm excited.

What happened to Debra Messing? Where's she been?

When it's Cold Outside, I've Got the Month of May

Things about which I am obsessing today:

-messenger bags
-ancestry.com
-crossing things off my to-do list

Soooooo exciting.

By the by, I got a new job! I'll be starting on the 22nd and I am excited for it. Though it isn't necessarily what I would like to be doing with my degree(s), it is working for a great organization and it is full time and I will have benefits and a higher wage than I get presently. Woo!

I've Given Thought to Leavin'

I want to get another tattoo. I want it to be fabulous and lovely. *sigh* It is tricky.

Also, I need to get my current tattoo touched up. Soon. It's starting to bug meeeeeeee.

It's Firefight and I Won't Run

Lately, I've been feeling like I don't want to be as involved with technology as I am. I don't mean that I don't want to have a phone or an ipod or a computer, but I really sometimes just wish I could delete my facebook profile or something and not feel totally guilty. I know that that is silly. I shouldn't be worrying about how that would make other people feel. *sigh* I think I'm just getting restless. I want this semester to be over and it feels like it will be over too soon and, at the same time, not over soon enough. I don't really understand how that works, but it totally does. Here is what I have left to do:

-art history final exam essay (4/21)
-historic preservation final paper (4/27)
-british empire research presentation (4/27)
-british empire final paper (4/30)
-british empire final exam essay (5/3)
-art history in class final exam (5/5)

Soooooo yeah. I am really excited. I spent the weekend reading art history so I can attempt to write something for this final. My professor knows what she wants the essay to be like (though we are not supposed to call it an essay) but she can't really articulate it, which concerns me.

Be Still

So, last week, when I was at a catering job for work, I texted Wifers and told her that I wanted to read Harry Potter. Since she couldn't provide me with the actual book, she provided me with a version to read, drawing from Wizard People. Haha. Anyway, it made me laugh, so I thought I would post it here:

"Once upon a time, there was Dumbledore and Hardcastle McCormick. They saved Master P from Roast Beefy O'Weefy and Saltporker. So Master P goes to school with Harmony and Ronnie the Bear." *The End.*

Beautiful, isn't it?

It is raining here this morning. I am not very excited about it. The tree I can see from my bedroom window has the little green buds on it, and I can see a few leaves peeking out. I'm excited about the trees and flowers all blooming. The rain helps with that, so I can't totally hate it.

All The Other Girls Here Are Stars, You Are The Northern Lights

I am writing a paper about this painting for art history. Well, I am supposed to be writing a paper about this. I will write it tomorrow, I do believe. I was talking with Wifers tonight and she offered to write it for me. Here is her composition:

"In this painting, T. Jefferson looks slightly like Christopher Lloyd. His hair looks electrocuted, which is fitting because he was a contemporary of Ben Franklin. His gaze is to the right, proving that he was, indeed, a Republican... and therefore must die. His kerchief hearkens back to olden days of old, when people wore kerchiefs. Not like today when kerchiefs are only worn by Ren Faire nerds and Cub Scouts. Please note the popped collar, indicating that Jefferson launched hipster culture for the 1700s. And his influence is still felt in fashion, culture and politics today!"

A+, if I do say so myself.

Maybe We Don't Want You Tracking Us Down

So, the G20 officially begins tomorrow, but the protestors are getting warmed up today. Greenpeace people hung a huge banner on the West End Bridge (I think) this morning. Someone forwarded me a really delighful version of one of the pictures. Makes me laugh so much. Oh, silly people.

I'm Dizzy From The Shopping Mall

So, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia comes back in September and I found this video during some of my blog reading today and it made me laugh so much. What a hilarious show. I'm very pleased that CLRG had me watch it with him.

Anyway, so Bananne and Oldface are coming to the Burgh this week. Wednesday, actually. They are staying until Saturday. I'm excited to see them. If I can get a hold of Cupcake, I think it would be fun to meet up with her but, as always, the chances of her having time to call me back are slim. We might meet up with KBrew and that will be easier because we facebook messaged the other day. She's game. I can't spend a ton of money while they are here, but I'm sure we'd be content to just hang out around my place if we had to. We'll see. :o)

And So I'm Sailing Through the Sea

Sometimes, I get the feeling that I'm fading into the background. It doesn't make too much sense and the feeling is unfounded, but it happens. I feel like it's hard to get a word in edgewise and that people aren't communicating with me in the way I am trying to communicate with them. I feel like I'm just invisible and that the only way I am noticed is by interacting with people in places they HAVE to be, not necessarily WANT to be. This feeling applies toward interactions with many different people, in many different situations. It's ridiculous, I know.

I know.

I was so bored last night. I half-wished for schoolwork. Haha. Thank goodness that can't be granted for about another month. Haha.

I am getting some visitors in a couple of weeks: Bananne and Old-Face are hitching a ride on a plane and coming to hang out for a few days. I'm excited to see them. I'm excited for us to do fun things and for them to meet CLRG and for us to go to the zoo and to Pamela's and to the bar. It will be a quality time.

He's a Real Nowhere Man

*sigh* Oh, Easter Break, I have pined for you for ages. I am so pleased you have finally arrived. No class tonight, no class on Tuesday. Huzzah! I am going to convince CLRG to color eggs with me tomorrow or Saturday. He didn't seem opposed when I brought it up the other day. We are going to his parents' house for Easter. I am slightly nervous, since it is the first major holiday I will be spending there, but I like his parents so I think it will be okay. We're staying over on Sunday night. He and his dad will change the oil in my car, I will do homework, we will hang out. Delightful. I am very sad to not be spending Easter with some portion of my family, though. I don't think anyone is going to my grandparents', not even Pooks, not even my aunt and uncle. I'm sad about it- I feel bad. I think they might go to their niece's house at some point, though, so that works out.

Have I mentioned that I am excited for summer? I can not wait to read what I want to read. I can not wait to do an internship for FUN and work (I don't reeeeeeally want to do this, but it is unavoidable. haha.) and to hang out with my friends and CLRG. Oh boy. I'm so ready. It's coming up much faster than I realize. My last final is on the 5th of May and then I'm freeeeeeeeeeee!! Speaking of the internship, though, it was finalized the other day that I will be an intern in the archives at the Warhol. I'm SO jazzed because I'll be working on the time capsule project, looking through Ol' Andy's random boxes of stuff. So awesome, right? Yes, indeed.

Today, I went shopping with K because I was in search of those elusive black pants for work. I found some, finally, at Macy's. I also purchased this purse (I bought the one that is multi colored on that page) because it was really cute and I was excited about it. I also found two shirts on sale (one of which I will probably wear for Easter dinner). Then, we went to Target where I found a few things that I need for around the house as well as this book. I am a bad girl. But I am pleased with myself, so how does that work out?

That'll Be the Day

I had some ridiculous dreams last night. At least two, but possibly more that blended together. It's hard to say. Here's what I recall about one of them:

I was at CLRG's house, but it wasn't the same place. There were a LOT of cats there. More than just his, and I had to separate his from the others. I figured out that the cats belonged to the clown that was in the backyard. Awesome, right? The cats had been trained to come into his house via a cat door and had a remote control that they pressed with their paw to open it to get out. I believe that CLRG was in his room during this time, hanging out with someone's mom and I was really pissed about it, especially when he locked his door. I woke up from that one kind of annoyed with him. Oops.

The second dream is even sketchier than that one. I am pretty sure it involved, bicycles, public transportation, BFF4E, Tinkerbell, princesses and Crazy Heroin Lady. I think that BFF4E might have been drunk and it was my duty to get him home somehow while also dealing with all of the things previously mentioned. I think we went to McDonald's, so when I woke up, that's what I was hungry for. I still am, actually. I think I'll try to convince CLRG that we need to go there tonight. Hmmm. Could be an awesome idea.

I really wonder what caused me to have those dreams. I ate kind of late, right before bed, so maybe that's it.
