You Say Tomato, I Say Tomahto

How is it that I have only just seen my first Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers movie? How old am I?! I went with JS to the Regent Square Theatre to see "Shall We Dance" and it. was. amazing. OMG. You must see it right now. It was so funny and I actually was already familiar with a couple of the songs. Who knew! Of course, now that I have seen the movie, it is imperative that I go roller skating.

This weekend was a good one, overall. We had Easter dinner with CLRG's family on Saturday because his mom and sister both had to work on Sunday and that went well. We hung out with the duckling during much of the afternoon. She is so darn smart, it isn't even funny. She got out this deck of cards that she has and I made up a game for us. Each card had a number and a picture of a Disney character (Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Donald). I showed her a card and had her put it in the pile with the matching picture and she did such a good job. Also, and possibly even more exciting, SHE SAID MY NAME!!!!!! I was so happy. She has been saying CLRG's name for a while now and I was getting envious. Haha.

Sweet Silver Angels

This weekend I:

-sold my car
-went antiquing
-acquired a recipe box from 1940
-baked raspberry almond bread from a Joy the Baker recipe

Plus other standard house things. It was a pretty darn good weekend, I would say. What did you do?

P.S. I baked these oatmeal blueberry applesauce muffins last week (recipe also from Joy the Baker) and they were so good, I baked them a second time with strawberries instead. Ha! I win!

The Horses Are Coming

Right now, I have a sweet little cat sitting on my lap. He is being very nice and seems to be wanting to hold hands. I'm okay with this.

I had a good weekend. CLRG and I went up to his parents' house and hung out with his family on Saturday. Seeing Little Baby Duck is always so much fun. This time, we took her for ice cream (which she did not want) and then we watched her play in her little pool (which she LOVED). On Sunday, we went to lunch with RCC and then I went shopping with K in the afternoon. I had to find a dress to wear to CLRG's boss' wedding this weekend and I was successful. I'm excited to wear it.

Say Whatever You Want Cause I Can Laugh it Off

I am not really satisfied with anything I write here today. Grr. I hate that. This entry will probably be super random, but I need to write more, so here we go:

I saw K for lunch yesterday. We had a good time, and then we went to Lowe's. I bought a tomato plant (roma!) and I was trying to think of an Italian name for it. I thought of Valentino or Romeo, but my dad suggested Silvio and I think that is very suitable, so I think that is the name. I went to Target after Lowe's and got a few new shirts for work. I can't be wearing sweaters in the summer, you know? I guess it might not matter b/c it is sometimes freezing in my office and I actually have to turn on the space heater, but whatever.

I read a really good book last week. It was called The Amazing Interlude and was written by Mary Roberts Rinehart. I found out that the author was born on the North Side of Pittsburgh, before it became part of Pittsburgh and was still Allegheny. The book was wonderful. It was about a young woman, Sara Lee Kennedy, who decides that she needs to go to Europe and see if she can start a soup kitchen during World War I. Her fiance doesn't want her to go, but she defies him and goes anyway. So it's mainly about her experience in Europe, but there are a lot of great characters and interactions and I liked it a lot.

I found out that the author is best known for her mystery writing and have downloaded a few of those to my Kindle so that I may read some of her other things. I'm really excited!!

CLRG is working today so I am home alone with the cats. I need to go do laundry and clean up a bit. I want to make strawberry shortcakes as well. Mmm. I also want to get some reading done. I am reading Little Lord Fauntleroy right now and it's been good so far.

We'll Run Away Together

I had a really excellent weekend. JH and Wifers came to visit, and we had a marvelous time. Here are some things we did:

-Watched many movies
-Ate at places like Eat N Park, D's, and Gullifty's
-Went shopping, found some deals
-Visited the zoo
-Bought cheap books

It's nice to be able to see some of your closest friends after extended periods of time and it doesn't feel like you've lost time at all, you know?

CLRG and I went to the thrift store today, after eating lunch at a local Chinese restaurant. I got some great things. I am very pleased. We also found a few sweet shirts for me (even though we were looking for stuff for him), also. On our way home, we walked down a street so I could see if a Catholic church I thought I saw a sign for was there. It was! I went inside for a minute and it is very nice and pretty. I was glad to find one even closer to my house than the one I had thought was closest, if that makes any sense.

OH! The new room is so close to be done, I can pretty much taste it. Not really, but you know what I mean. It has been primed and they put some plywood down to level the floor and I think they are painting right now. AND! The carpet is totally in the house. Things are progressing quickly now, and I am very happy.

So We Lie Here In The Dark

The weather is very tricky lately. Last week, it suddenly became more fall-like than ever and now leaves are falling (CLRG says that that's to do with the huge amounts of snowfall we had in the winter) and temperatures are lower. I am looking forward to autumn, but I will miss the warmth when it's 35 degrees out in a few months. Blah.

The weekend was a good one. CLRG and I went to a delicious pizza place nearby, watched college football at a bar down the street, and napped on Saturday. On Sunday, I worked and then watched the Steelers game. In the evening, Howie (if that is a nickname already, I probably don't have to give him another on the blog, right?) came over and I made spaghetti and then he, CLRG and I walked up to the Regent Square Theatre to see Repo Man. It was crazy and awesome. You should see it sometime.

Tonight, I am meeting K for dinner. Tomorrow, I am going to a movie with A. I'm excited for both things.

Oh! Last night I was telling CLRG about my plans to go to the Italian for Beginners class at the library and he indicated that he would like to go also. I registered us for the class today. It starts next week, I think. I'm very excited. I miss being in a classroom, even though I haven't studied a language in years. Oops.

You Don't Make It Easy, Babe

It is seriously crunch time, folks. I am starting to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Tomorrow is one of the most intense days in terms of handing things in and presenting research and the like, but then it's one thing for each due date and I can totally handle that. Totally. Right. Yes.

I pretty much spent the entire weekend doing homework. It was Elle's birthday on Saturday and her parents came to visit. I felt really bad that my presence in birthday activities was minimal, but I hope we can make up for it with a roommate date when all of this nonsense is complete and I have real life again. I did get to spend some time with CLRG on Friday night. We had a few drinks and watched tv and it was really nice. I think we stayed up too late, but we made up for it by sleeping in late on Saturday. Not ideal for the homework, but very nice for cuddling purposes.

My Pookie is getting married really, really soon. Like, in three weeks. I think. The fifteenth! YIKES!!! I am very excited about it, but it is still crazy. CRAZY. She's too young to be getting married, I think. Isn't she like five years old or something? Gosh. When did she get to be almost 22? I feel so old.

Okay, back to homework. Yay.

You Will Shelter Me, My Love, and I Will Shelter You

Have I mentioned that I really, really cannot wait until this semester is over? I mean it. I can't wait. I wake up every day feeling just as tired as I felt when I went to bed. I am feeling stretched impossibly thin. Blah.

CLRG and I went to the very last Johnstown Chiefs game ever on Saturday. It was a sad time. We hung out with his parents, though, which was nice. It was a pretty good time. :o) Easter was low-key this year. CLRG and I just hung out at his place, watching Kitchen Nightmares and eating pizza. It was nice to just relax together.

Okay, back to reading and writing. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.

Turn Up the Music, Let's Get Out on the Floor

Today, after work, I went to the grocery store. As I was pondering pita chips, I heard someone say hello. It was a semi-regular at work. After exchanging pleasantries, he said, "So, you DO exist in real life." I responded with some crack about having to wear all black in real life also, and then we moved on to the discussion of pita chips. He told me which ones he and his wife like to eat and then we went our separate ways.

I guess I exist in real life, but sometimes I don't feel like I do.

Steady Feet, Don't Fail Me Now

OMG. The Warhol is going to be an awesome place to intern this summer. My first two days went really well and I saw some sweet, sweet things. I did some reading on the first day (procedural type things) and then helped with some basic tasks and then got to do some numbering. It was sooooo cool. On the second day, I helped one of the archivists open a new box and sort through the things inside. I really loved it. Oh boy.

In other news, today is Saturday. My only day off from everything. CLRG and I had talked about going somewhere- a little road trip. But this morning he was feeling like crap and hadn't slept through the night, so it's the middle of the afternoon and I am at home, waiting to use the shower. I know that it's not his fault that he feels so badly. I know that he needs to take it easy and try to feel better, but I was really looking forward to doing something different and fun and now it's just a regular day. I, at least, finished reading the book I had been reading this week. That was good. I hope he'll be able to do something tonight.
